Mike Back, Nutshell PaintsMike Back and Diane Moore are the brother and sister team behind Nutshell Paints. The pioneering, people-friendly paint company was created when the family founders were searching for healthy, child friendly paint to use in their own homes.

Respiratory distress, birth defects, cancer and asthma are just four of the compelling reasons to take care that your home environment is safe for you and your family.

Most commercial paints release organic compounds and these volatile organic compounds (VOCs) evaporate into the air we breathe. The ingredients - benzene, toluene, naphthalene, methyl chloroform and formaldehyde –  are all responsible for short term and long adverse health effects.

VOCs emit thesee pollutants into the environment as the organic solvents in the paint evaporate. This chemical cocktail is blamed for shortness of breath, chest pain, asthma, pulmonary inflammation, along with increased risk of respiratory infections.

The solution is to choose zero-VOC, low odour paint that don't give off these hazardous fumes in your home. Non toxic and eco friendly paint can be hard to find. That’s why we founded Nutshell Natural Paints.

Located in the beautiful westcountry, we are located in the Cathedral city of Exeter in glorious Devon. All of our products are free from chemical solvents and made from naturally-derived raw materials, such as citrus peel extracts, essential oils, seed oils, tree resins, inert mineral fillers, tree and bee waxes, lead-free dryers, and natural pigments.

Here at Nutshell Paints we only use renewable, natural, non-toxic clay and mineral pigments; the paints are low odour, silica-free, and antimicrobial, perfect when you are looking for child friendly, non toxic and eco friendly paint.
